This is the freakin' coolest job

If you told me 5 years ago that I would be doing what I am now, I really wouldn’t have believed you. I was a little hipster/hippy who was brand spankin’ new to Boone and going to concerts every weekend. I wasn’t interested in traveling or photography in the slightest.

Photography kinda unexpectedly landed in my lap. It was the kind of surprise you never see coming in a million years, but I’m so grateful it did. I’ve experienced through so many life changing moments as a photographer, and a few things I’ve learned is that…

    • A campfire is the best place to spend quality time with people
    • People are generally good and willing to help (and happy to do it!)
    • Connecting with people I’ve never met and learning new things through their experiences is eye-opening, inspiring, and refreshing

I wouldn’t have felt any of these wonderful, inspiring, and humbling experiences without photography.

I cannot say enough how thankful I am that I get to do this every single day.

You just woke up to a stunning mountaintop sunrise and you’re sipping a hot cup of coffee on the front porch.

Everything is still blanketed in that early morning, dew-y kind of quiet light and you’re feeling butterflies in anticipation for the rest of your wedding day. Your dress is hanging in the window, his coat has just been steamed, a little fire is crackling in the fire place, and you’re playing with the heirloom bracelet on your wrist that your grandma passed down to you.

You’re imagining your partner’s face as you say your vows in the middle of a sweeping field, mountain ranges as your backdrop, with your closest family and friends beaming happiness across their faces. The Star Wars cupcakes, dried flower confetti, hexagon arch, live band playing your favorite Mumford & Sons songs, and every single detail screamed YOU.

Your smile can’t stop all day long- everything has just felt so right.

You CAN create a day that is uniquely yours.

I’m a huge dork, but somehow I’ve managed to convince people otherwise.
...just kidding. Everyone knows I’m a dork. I own it.

Hey there, I'm Alexa- the photographer behind it all.

When I’m not working, I spend my time drinking way too much coffee, cooking new recipes, knitting, watching documentaries, and reading fantasy novels. I’m also a horrible workaholic because I love what I do so much (it’s a blessing and a curse).

For the summer of ’19 I went on a month long road trip through the Midwest and I camped out in my mom’s mini van. I saw the Garden of the Gods, Switzerland of America, the Grand Canyon, Antelope Canyon, and soooooo many other amazing places. I’m totally hooked on van life and I am doing literally everything in my power to get back to van life ASAP.

My dog is my child and I would do anything for her. She’s a 10 year old Maltese and she rides around in a backpack to some of my adventure sessions (and to go grocery shopping). I’m sure you dog owners totally understand this feeling.
